Uniquely West Australian trails initiatives are being undertaken by the Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions and other land managers, which will showcase the remarkable WA environment as a world-class trails and adventure destination.
Over $50M is being invested to create and improve sustainable walk, cycle and paddle trails across Western Australia. All trails are planned and implemented using the Western Australian eight-step Trail Development Process.
Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing recreational, sport and tourism activities in Western Australia. Trail projects include dedicated mountain bike networks in the Perth Metro and Hills, Dwellingup, Collie, Pemberton, Margaret River, Mt Barker, Walpole-Nornalup and as far north as the Kimberley.
Walk trail projects will include new loop trails, including parts of the world famous Bibbulmun Track near Walpole and Collie. New and upgraded trails will improve trail sustainability in national parks and reserves in the Kimberley, near Mt Barker, Denmark and Albany.
There are also new and improved paddle trails on the Ningaloo Coast and in the Nornalup Inlet and Frankland River near Walpole that will include improved disability access.
Collie is set to become home to a world class network of trails that will guide mountain bike riders and bushwalkers to explore more of the area.
Dwellingup will be developed as a world class trails destination within a unique forested natural environment and stunning river valley.
Exciting new walk, cycle and paddle trails are being developed at locations across the scenic Great Southern Region of Western Australia.
